Juice is partnering with our newest team member and Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator Carolyn Swora to host a series of upcoming Dare to Lead™ virtual training workshops, bringing you access to the research-based leadership skills training program developed from two decades of research by Dr. Brené Brown.
The ongoing uncertainty of the pandemic is depleting our energy, and sustaining the performance needed in a hybrid workplace is more challenging than it has ever been. Organizations need brave leaders more than ever. Brave leaders produce high performing teams that sustain energy through uncertain times. They lead with the courage to have the difficult conversations that are needed to unlock their team's best performance.
Dare to Lead™ is a unique and powerful leadership development program that is transforming people, teams and organizations. By providing leaders with the tools to embrace the tension in ambiguity, they are equipped with the skills to have the important conversations that address people’s fears. Leaders can sustain their team’s performance by creating a place of belonging and equity among employees.
The Dare to Lead™ Program provides practical tools and in-depth exploration of challenges leaders and teams face in today’s environment, including:
Learning to acknowledge and address fears, instead of having problematic behaviour needlessly consume time and resources
Learning to deliver honest, productive feedback and not avoid difficult conversations.
Building real connection and trust through empathy
Shifting from a culture of fear, perfectionism and blame to one that fosters learning, accountability and growth.
Encouraging vital conversations about diversity and inclusion, and choosing hard conversations over our own comfort.
Fueling innovation by creating an environment that supports the courage to take smart risks and boldly share ideas
Focusing efforts on identifying the root cause and fixing the right problem, and avoiding rushing to ineffective solutions too quickly.
Identifying values that are not merely aspirational but lived, taught and measured.
Dare To Lead™ is an empirically based courage-building program facilitated by certified professionals and is based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown, research professor at the University of Houston, and author for several #1 New York Times bestsellers, including Dare to Lead, which is the culmination of a seven-year study on courage and leadership.
This program focuses on shifting leadership mindsets from ‘Armoured’ to ‘Daring’ by understanding what ‘leading from a place of self-protection’ looks like, identifying protective behaviours (armour) and learning what is needed to access the Daring equivalent.
Courage is a critical skillset that leaders need if they are going to successfully lead and thrive during these times of volatility, ambiguity, change and uncertainty. There are no right answers anymore. Instead, we need leaders to embrace the discomfort of vulnerability, show up as their true authentic selves, and create the space for others to do the same.
“When we dare to lead, we don’t pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don’t see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it with others.“ Dr. Brené Brown, Dare to Lead™
The most significant finding from Brené’s research is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that are teachable, measurable, and observable. The Dare to Lead™ program focuses on developing these courage-building skills through workshops and coaching:
(1) Rumbling with Vulnerability
This is the foundational skill for leaders to embrace in having tough, uncomfortable conversations. Learn about the myths of vulnerability that stop us from fully leaning into our leadership roles and the relevance of emotional literacy.
(2) Living into our Values
Transition from professing values to truly practicing them, even when it is uncomfortable. Tools are shared to help leaders enter into and stay in tough conversations. They learn how to replace their armour by using these tools. Feedback is one of the toughest types of conversations in organizations. Learn how to recognize your own defensiveness and how it can impact being engaged in these important conversations.
(3) BRAVING Trust
Trust is the currency to success in any organization. In this skill set, we deconstruct trust into tangible shared language so you can talk with people openly instead of talking about them. Leaders operationalize this concept of trust into actionable behaviours increasing trust in themselves and their teams.
(4) Learning to Rise
Learn how to overcome mistakes and face discomfort in a way that brings more wisdom and insight. Whether we acknowledge it or not, emotion plays a big role in how we live and lead. Understand how your brain makes up stories that influence your culture and leadership daily. Great leaders create opportunities to fact check often so that stories don’t proliferate.
This 3.5-hour workshop, delivered virtually, provides an introduction to the Dare to Lead™ framework in an interactive and intimate group format. Learn how leaders can assess their current state of Daring Leadership, help identify armour and gain tools proven to improve team engagement and performance.
